Texas Primary Elections – Early Voting has begun

Clients, Colleagues and Friends, it’s now under two weeks until the Texas Primary Elections (Tuesday, March 6th). Early Voting began February 20th and continues through Friday, March 2nd. If you need specific information about early voting, click here for details.

Texas continues to be a conservative and Republican-dominated state, evidenced by the fact that about 86% of all money going to statewide elected candidates this cycle has gone to Republicans, with Gov. Greg Abbott getting nearly a third of all political money since the start of last year. In fact, the top 20 recipients of state campaign contributions went to GOP candidates.

A recent University of Texas/Texas Tribune poll shows that Gov. Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick will easily defeat their primary challengers, while Land Commissioner George P. Bush and Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller are fighting off tougher primary foes. Both of those races could be headed to run-off elections in late-May.
